HIMSS G7 Report Offers Insights on Five Areas of Risk for ICD-10 Conversion
With the ICD-10 conversion deadline of October 1, 2013, healthcare providers must address areas of risk involved in planning and implementing ICD-10 to avoid catastrophic consequences, according to the new HIMSS G7 report, ICD-10 Transformation:  Five Critical Risk Mitigation Strategies. Rick Schooler Named CHIME-HIMSS 2011 John E. Gall, Jr. CIO of the Year
Rick Schooler, FCHIME, has been selected as the recipient of the 2011 John E. Gall Jr. CIO of the Year Award. Schooler is Chief Information Officer and Vice President at Orlando Health, an integrated delivery system with a variety of healthcare providers in central Florida. Schooler will receive the award at the 2012 Annual HIMSS Conference and Exhibition in Las Vegas on Feb. 23, 2012. (more)

HIMSS Analytics Honors Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center with Stage 7 Award

HIMSS Analytics announced that Moanalua Medical Center, a Kaiser Permanente hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii, has received its Stage 7 Award. The award represents attainment of the highest level on the Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model? (EMRAM), which is used to track EMR progress at hospitals and health systems.

HIMSS Announces 2011 Award and Scholarship Recipients
Recognizing outstanding contributions to HIMSS and the healthcare industry, HIMSS named its 2011 award and scholarship recipients. The HIMSS Foundation and four HIMSS chapters provided nine scholarships to students enrolled in health IT and management systems degree programs.

Two Nurses Recognized as Emerging Leaders in Informatics
The Alliance for Nursing Informatics (ANI) selected two individuals to participate in an exclusive two-year program designed to develop professionals capable of assuming national leadership positions in
informatics-related organizations.  Based on competitive criteria, Sarah A. Collins, RN, PhD, and Audrey L. Hirsch, RN, MS, have been tapped to participate in the Nursing Informatics Emerging Leaders Program.
ANI and the Nursing Informatics Emerging Leaders Program are jointly supported by the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

Interact with Industry Leaders in Health IT Interoperability
The annualIHE North America Connectathon 2012 continues to show substantial year-to-year growth as the importance of systems interoperability in health information technology becomes more evident. As part of the Connectathon, IHE USA will sponsor a one-day conference presenting a preeminent team of interoperability, information standards and health information exchange experts.
