Helen Figge is Senior Director, Career Services, for HIMSS, the largest U.S. cause-based, not-for-profit
healthcare association focused on the optimal use of information technology and management systems for the betterment of healthcare.
Figge has experience in various aspects of healthcare, including teaching, research, grant writing, clinical practice, industrial sales and healthcare practice management. She has been engaged in various government initiatives including workforce development programs, regional extension centers and health information exchange initiatives. She has developed and supported client loyalty programs and helped to develop clinical processes, best practices and supporting clinical initiatives. She is versed in various other government initiatives, including Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and other state and federal programs with an educational emphasis on workforce development. She has supported various quality outcome projects and best practices and has published in both the clinical and health information technology arenas.
Figge has served on various committees with her local HIMSS New York State chapter and most recently, as a board member and secretary of the HIMSS NY chapter. Additionally, she has served on various national pharmacy committees, including her most recent position as Chair of the Ambulatory Care Informatics section of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists.
She received her Baccalaureate in Science and her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences, Boston, Mass. She trained at the Harvard teaching hospitals in Boston and completed a pharmacy fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Mass., in Drug Information and Clinical Research. She has an MBA in healthcare administration, is a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt and a Certified Six Sigma Lean Sensei. She has achieved senior status at HIMSS. She has served on various committees with her local HIMSS New York State Chapter and most recently served as a board member of the HIMSS New York Chapter, Secretary. Additionally, she has served on various national pharmacy committees and most recently serving as chair of the Ambulatory Care Informatics Section of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists.
