Edna Boone, MA, CPHIMS is Senior Director Mobile Initiatives for the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), the largest U.S. not-for-profit healthcare association focused on providing global leadership for the transformation of health and healthcare through the optimal use of information technology. 

 

With more than 25 years experience in healthcare management, her career has focused on financial and clinical systems planning and integration in ambulatory, acute and community care settings. She has extensive experience working with clinicians as well as vendors and served as Director of Clinical Systems and Physician Relations at United Health Services.  She was also involved in the funding and development of the Southern Tier Health Link, a health information exchange covering seven counties in central New York, receiving 3.8 million dollars in start-up funds from the State of New York. 

 

Edna joined HIMSS in the fall of 2008 to oversee the Enterprise Information Systems Committee and Management Engineering – Process Improvement Community for the Society focusing on convening HIMSS volunteers and industry leaders in these areas. In this position, Edna works with member subject matter experts to develop whitepapers, tools, thought leadership, policy statements and resources focused on educating the industry on Enterprise EHR and Process Improvement issues such as EHR Usability and Accessibility, Business Intelligence, Change Management, Workflow and tracking Meaningful Use legislation and its effects on hospitals and care providers.  

 

In her current role, Edna leads HIMSS mobile initiative which seeks to convene industry stakeholders to ensure the power and promise of mobile technology and mobile health is utilized to transform healthcare in the US and globally.
